The correlations among the heat treatment temperature, the sorbitic and pearlitic micro-structure, the grain size, the testing temperature and the notch toughness were reported by using high carbon rail steel. In the present report, the impact properties of the heat affected zone of as-rolled rail which was welded by means of enclosed arc welding in the same way as in field welding were investigated.
